UNION ACADEMY'S GRACIE HOLLINGSWORTH

The 2022 Cy Young award winner is Union Academy’s Gracie Hollingsworth. Gracie led Union Co. in wins with 18 against 6 losses, led Union Co. with 266 strikeouts and registered a 1.67 ERA. Gracie was named to the 2021 ALL-UCHSSoftball.com’s 1st team, 1st team ALL-YVC and YVC Pitcher of the Year. Gracie was named All-State and 1A Pitcher of the Year. Gracie threw 12 shutouts on the season while recording 15 games of 10+ strikeouts including a career high 18 strikeouts in a win over JM Robinson. At the plate Gracie batted .391 with 27 hits while driving in 36 runs and smacking 9 homeruns. Ms. Hollingsworth helped lead the Cardinals to an 18-6 record & into the 3rd round of the state playoffs. CONGRATULATIONS GRACIE!!!

MARVIN RIDGE'S ANNA McGOWAN

Anna McGowan finished her sophomore year by hitting .493 on the season with 35 hits, tied for Union Co. lead in with 39 RBI and smacked 11 HR’s and added 7 doubles and scored 19 runs for the Marvin Ridge Mavericks. McGowan drove in a season high 6 RBI in the win over Cuthbertson. Clubbed 2 homeruns in a game twice (vs. Buford & Cuthbertson). Anna was 4-2 on the mound with 23 K’s and a 4.57 ERA. Anna was named to the 2022 ALL-UCHSSoftball.com’s 1st team, All-SCC and All-state. Ms. McGowan helped lead the Marvin Ridge Mavericks to a 20-4 record, a Co-Conference SCC Title, a SCC Tournament Title, and at trip to the Final-4 of the 4A state Playoffs. CONGRATULATIONS ANNA!! !
