MARVIN RIDGE'S LEXI KIRBY

The 2025 UCHSSoftball.com’s MVP is Marvin Ridge’s Lexi Kirby. Made a run at the Triple Crown Lexi hit .538 on the season (3rd in Union Co.), led all of Union Co. with 15 homeruns and 49 RBI for Marvin Ridge. Ms. Kirby collected 35 hits along with scoring 34 runs, knocking 6 doubles and 2 triples for Coach McGowan and the Mavericks. Lexi was named 1st Team All-UCHSSoftball and was named All-SCC and the SCC Player of the Year as a senior. Smacked 2 homeruns in a game 3 times in 2025. Drove in 4+ RBI in a game 7 times as a senior. Drove in a career high 7 runs in win over Sun Valley. Made just 2 errors all season and recorded a .984 Fielding %. Lexi helped the Marvin Ridge Mavericks to a 18-4 record, a SCC Tournament title and advanced to the 2nd round of the state 4A playoffs. Lexi joins former Maverick greats Anna McGowan (’23 & ‘22), Katriel Williams (’21), Jessica Davis (’18) to be named the UCHSSoftball MVP. She will continue her academic and softball career at Campbell University. Congratulations Lexi!

Avery Wilson (UA)


2025 CY YOUNG AWARD WINNER

UNION ACADEMY'S AVERY WILSON

The 2025 Cy Young award winner is Union Academy’s Avery Wilson. Ms. Wilson won the pitching “Triple Crown”, leading Union Co. in wins with 26, 279 strikeouts and a 0.85 ERA. Recorded 12 games with 10+ K’s including a season & career high 20 K’s in the 3rd round playoff win over Draughn HS. Threw a 6-inning No-Hitter in a playoff win over rival S. Stanly. Threw 7 1-hitters and 13 shutouts in 2025 including 7 in the playoffs. Avery was named 1st Team All-UCHSSoftball, All-YVC Pitcher of the Year & All-YVC.

At the plate Avery hit .507 with 34 hits, drove in 42 runs, scored 17 runs, added 7 doubles, 5 triples and smacked 5 HRs for the Cardinals. Ms. Wilson drove in a season high 5 RBI twice. Went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and a HR in clinching 4-0 win over East Wilkes. Went 2-for-3 with 2 triples and 5 RBI in 1st round playoff win. Hit 2 HRs in the playoffs. Avery helped lead the Cardinals to a 29-1 record, the Yadkin Valley Conference Title (10-0), and THE 2025 1A STATE TITLE! Named MVP of the 1A state championship game series. Avery joins former Cardinal great Grace Hollingsworth (’23 & ‘22) to be named the UCHSSoftball MVP. Congrats Avery!!
