Cavaliers holds on for 19-13 win.

Cuthbertson High football coach David Johnson expected a dogfight against winless Marvin Ridge on Friday. The Cavaliers' third-year coach couldn't have been more right. Marvin Ridge (0-6, 0-1 SCC) moved the ball down to the CHS nine-yard line with 4.2 seconds left in the game, but the final play resulted in a fumble that was recovered by Cavs sophomore lineman Dyanta Caldwell. Cuthbertson, which entered Friday averaging 27.8 points per game, had its offense held in check most of the night. The Cavs faced a 13-12 deficit entering the fourth quarter before going on an 89-yard drive that resulted in senior receiver BJ Muckelvene hauling in a 16-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Austin Kendall. Kendall, a University of Tennessee commit, was 4-of-5 for 47 yards on the game-winning drive. CHS also got a big boost on the drive from senior back Alex Levister, who had carries of 19, 15 and eight yards. Despite the win, Johnson was disappointed with the production on offense, which was held to a season-low 19 points. Marvin Ridge scored its final TD of the night on a sneak from the one by Colonna on fourth down with 11:14 left in the fourth. The Mavs got a standout game from sophomore Emeka Emezie, who finished with five catches for 107 yards. Three of his grabs went for 28 yards or more.
