    Mavs' Wotell signs with Arizona

Max Wotell may well be the highest-recruited baseball player in Union County history. A senior left-handed pitcher at Marvin Ridge High, Wotell signed a full athletic scholarship to further his playing career with the University of Arizona. Wotell verbally committed to the Wildcats as a junior a year ago and said he has never second-guessed his decision. A 6-foot-3, 180-pounder, Wotell is a three-time all-Southern Carolina Conference selection for the Mavericks. As a junior in 2013, Wotell went 5-1 with 90 strikeouts and a 2.83 earned run average on his way to earning first-team all-UCHSBaseball.com honors.
